Presentation of the results of the Tabacalera Residency at Casa Planas by Andrea Valdés

Andrea Valdés’s project, “Laura Riding: Without Descendants”, brings together her own arrival to poetry with the figure of someone who ultimately abandoned and publicly repudiated it.The project is a deeply personal approach to the life and work of this controversial author, best known for the significant influence she exerted on poet and writer Robert Graves, with whom she lived in Mallorca between 1930 and 1936..

During her residency at Casa Planas, Valdés, Valdés has been reading and engaging with Riding’s poems reflecting on how to give them voice in the sound piece she is currently developing. She will speak about this process and other aspects of her work on Monday, June 29,, Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about her creative process and receive a copy of "Cavernícolas", the book that accompanies her research.

«Cavernícolas» by Laura Riding opens and closes this publication, which brings together a selection of chronicles originally published in El Estado Mental and Babelia, now updated by Andrea Valdés. In it, she approaches literature in a highly personal way.

This grant is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Spain for the creation, research, and production of artistic residency projects.
