WUNDERKAMMER

Wunderkammer is an artistic exploration of the concept of the ‘cabinet of curiosities’ as developed by Athanasius Kircher, a pioneer of the Baroque Wunderkammer and of the idea of a science linked to mystery, imagery and a universal language.

This German Jesuit is regarded as one of the last great encyclopaedic scholars. Among other things, he used images to inform, dazzle and connect with the unknown and the fantastical. His work on projected images foreshadowed visual technology in tourism.

By constructing wooden structures inspired by Kircher’s diagrams and artefacts, this project proposes an intervention that revitalises the archive through new narratives: as a symbolic capsule, as a map

of desire, as a reflection of a cumulative vision and

mística of the world.
