Andrea Valdés
UNCOVERING ARCHIVE 2026 - TABACALERA RESIDENCY

Andrea Valdés’s project, “Laura Riding. Without Offspring”, draws a parallel between her entry into the world of poetry and the man who ultimately abandoned her and publicly disowned her. It is a highly personal exploration of the life and work of this controversial author, best known for the significant influence she exerted on the poet and writer Robert Graves, with whom she lived in Mallorca between 1930 and 1936.

During his residency at Casa Planas, Valdés has been reading and engaging with his poems, and thinking about how to bring them to life in the sound piece he is currently working on. He will discuss this and other aspects on Monday 29th, when attendees will have the opportunity to learn about his creative process and take home a copy of *Cavernícolas*, the book that accompanies his research.

«Cavernícolas» by Laura Riding opens and closes this publication, which brings together a selection of chronicles originally published in El Estado Mental and Babelia, now updated by Andrea Valdés. In it, she approaches literature in a highly personal way.

This grant is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Spain for the creation, research, and production of artistic residency projects.
