Planas Archive Cataloging Project 2026

Planas Archive it constitutes one of the most important photographic collections in the history of the tourism boom in the Balearic Islands, with over three million images.. The collection spans more than a century of representations of the landscape, culture, economic development, and social memory of the islands, and is of outstanding historical importance internationally. Its preservation, organization, and promotion are a priority for the Casa Planas Foundation, with the aim of preserve, study, and interpret this collection of great heritage value. The conservation project is designed to last six years and, for now, in 2026 we will begin the first phase of inventorying and cataloging 30,000 reports.

With this objective in mind, and with the support of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Ministry of Culture, a new call for applications has been launched to recruit personnel specializing in cataloging and archiving.

Requested profile: 
Two professionals are sought to carry out cataloging tasks for the Planas Archive as part of a 10-month project (January–October 2026).

The following are valued:
– Postgraduate training in photographic archives, archiving, and/or demonstrable experience in cataloging projects.

– Solid knowledge of methodologies for describing, standardizing, and processing photographic collections.

– Ability to work systematically, pay attention to detail, and manage large volumes of information.

– Proficiency in Catalan.

Conditions:
- Full Day.

– Living in Mallorca will be particularly valued due to proximity and project operability.

Salary: Approximately €15,000 gross (10 months)
