The Planas Archive is the largest European archive dedicated to tourism.
Located in the former Planas photographic processing factory, it has been rescued as a centre for artistic creation. The archive houses 3 million images that showcase the relationship between photography and the history of tourism.<\/p>

The tour is an indescribable experience that allows us to immerse ourselves in the memory, heritage, and identity of the Balearic Islands.<\/p>

The Planas Archive holds documents from the photographic processing factory Casa Planas; it contains photographs of industrially produced postcards which travelled all over the world promoting Spain\u2019s beginnings as a tourist destination: photographs of the landscape and its transformation, reports on the first hotels, and photographs of cultural events from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.<\/p>

The company had 14 establishments at its peak, marking the beginning of a new industry in imagery. Through observation of his extensive collection of cameras and photographic equipment of great historic value, the passion of entrepreneur Josep Planas i Montany\u00e0 becomes self-evident.<\/p>

Nowadays, the archive is managed by visual artist and researcher Marina Planas with an artistic focus on how we relate to the archives from the perspective of contemporary art.<\/p>
